Terminal Deflation is Coming, Trevor Jackson

In the past two months the Fed has drastically expanded its balance sheet to fund unprecedented levels of government spending in response to the coronavirus pandemic. While increasing the money supply in this matter typically raises alarm bells of inflation, Jackson argues that we really should be concerned about deflation. He says that government stimulus needs to be more extreme to effectively prevent crippling deflation due to the corona crash.

Deflation is the real killer of prosperity, Stephen Moore

In keeping with the trend, this is another article about the significant risks of deflation despite widespread concern for inflation. Moore makes a compelling case that we need to address falling prices and even suggests strategies like having the Social Security trust fund buy equities as a solution.

Step Chickens and the Rise of TikTok ‘Cults’, Taylor Lorenz

Stuck inside and isolated from their friends, the young users of TikTok have turned to so-called “cults” for a little bit of fun during quarantine. In this article, Lorenz explores what these cults are, where they came from, and what the implications are for both TikTok, but also the larger influencer space. She cites many insightful sources from different experts in the field which are great reads in their own regard. Definitely commentary you don’t want to miss.

Amazon’s D.C. Move Threatens the Founders’ Vision for America, David Fontana

This article provides a captivating look at the implications of Amazon’s move to the capital of the United States, Washington D.C. Although the move has already been made, Fontana looks at why, historically, economic hubs have been separated from political hubs, and why it still matters. He presents concerns rooted in history regarding the proximity of Amazon to the US Capital.
